Whew! What a busy, yet amazing week in our Media Center! We kicked off the week with our first Storytime STEM lesson and it was a HUGE hit! Students listened to the story, Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon, and then did a STEM activity related to the book! Our K-1 smarties programmed the Beebots to retell the story and our 2-4 friends, or in this case architects, had to use Molly Lou's "stacking tooth" pennies to design a stable structure. Our Fourth- and Fifth-Grade Friends also joined in on the Beebot fun! Fourth Graders learned about the phases of the moon and tested their knowledge by programming the Beebot to travel to specific phases! Fifth graders used them to practice their knowledge of vocabulary in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Our Beebots sure stayed busy this week...and so did we! :) Aside from our whole group lessons, Mrs. O'Brien also met with a small group of Mrs. Van Matre's students for Genius Hour! These students are working on some AMAZING projects to enrich their learning and understanding of rocks and minerals. Their creativity and excitement made for an awesome time of learning in the Media Center! We can't wait to see their finished projects! Happy Three-Day Weekend, Everyone!
