The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl Team
The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is a quiz bowl style competition that tests students’ knowledge of the books they have read. The books are selected from the Georgia Children’s Book Award Nominees.
Fourth and Fifth-grade students are invited to join our team. We will have a maximum of 10 members on our official competition team. Students who do not qualify for the competition team may continue to participate as student coaches during practice.
The official competition team will be announced in November unless the coaches require more time to select members. Students may earn a spot on the competition team by reading as many books as possible, attending practices, and other points earning activities. The county-level competition is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, January 13, 2024. Please make sure your child can commit to that weekend. The top two teams from the county level will move on to regionals. The top two teams from regionals will move on to state.
